Description

  1. Job Overview

If you enjoy helping people, solving problems quickly, and keeping things organized, this role could be a great fit for you.

As a Customer Service Officer at Ubuntu Movers, you’ll be the first point of contact for clients who need moving and logistics services. In real terms, you’re the person customers call when they want to relocate their home, move office equipment, or track their items. Your job is to guide them through the entire process—from the first inquiry to the final delivery—making sure everything runs smoothly.

You’ll work closely with drivers, dispatch teams, and operations staff to ensure clients receive timely and professional service. Think of yourself as the “bridge” between the customer and the moving team—keeping communication clear, solving issues fast, and ensuring every client feels valued.

  1. Key Responsibilities

Here’s what your day-to-day work will actually look like:

  • Handling customer communication:
You’ll answer phone calls, reply to emails, and sometimes attend to walk-in clients. Customers may ask about pricing, availability, or how the moving process works—your job is to guide them clearly and confidently.
  • Explaining services in simple terms:
Many clients are moving for the first time. You’ll break down packages, pricing, and timelines so they understand exactly what they’re paying for.
  • Booking and scheduling jobs:
You’ll register customer requests, confirm bookings, and ensure all details (location, items, timing) are correctly captured.
  • Coordinating with the operations team:
You’ll constantly communicate with drivers and dispatch teams to track ongoing jobs, confirm arrivals, and solve any delays or issues.
  • Managing complaints professionally:
Not every move goes perfectly. When issues arise (delays, damages, miscommunication), you’ll calm the customer, find solutions, and escalate when needed.
  • Keeping accurate records:
You’ll update customer databases, track job progress, and ensure all documentation is complete and organized.
  • Following up after service delivery:
A quick call or message to confirm customer satisfaction helps build trust and repeat business.
  • Supporting billing and invoicing:
You’ll help verify job details so invoices are accurate before they’re sent to customers.
  • Building relationships:
You’re not just solving problems—you’re helping turn first-time clients into loyal customers.
  1. Requirements & Qualifications

To succeed in this role, here’s what employers typically expect:

  • Education:
A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Customer Service, Logistics, or a related field is an added advantage.
  • Experience:
At least 1–2 years of experience in customer service, front desk, call center, or logistics support roles. Experience in a moving or transport company is a big plus.
  • Communication skills:
You must speak and write clear English. Knowing local languages like Luganda is highly valuable when dealing with clients.
  • Computer skills:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and email communication is required.
  • Problem-solving mindset:
You should be calm under pressure and able to handle difficult customers professionally.
  • Organization skills:
Managing multiple bookings and requests requires attention to detail and good time management.
