- Job Overview
This role focuses on reviewing and checking the bank’s information technology systems to ensure they are secure, reliable, and compliant with policies and regulations. You will work within the internal audit team to assess how IT systems operate and identify risks that could affect banking operations.
In practical terms, you will examine networks, databases, software systems, and security controls used in the bank. You will help ensure that systems are not vulnerable to fraud, errors, or misuse. Your work supports safe banking operations across Uganda and other regional branches.
- Key Responsibilities
You will help develop the annual IT audit plan and contribute ideas based on identified system risks.
You will design audit tests that check whether IT controls are working properly. This includes testing systems for security gaps, inefficiencies, or non compliance.
You will carry out full IT audits from planning to reporting. This involves collecting data, reviewing systems, and documenting findings clearly.
You will prepare audit reports that highlight issues, risks, and recommended improvements. These reports will be shared with management for action.
You will follow up on audit findings to ensure that recommended corrections are implemented within the required timelines.
You will support audits in regional branches by assessing IT risks and ensuring consistent audit standards.
You will assist in investigating fraud cases and system irregularities when required.
You will support the use of audit tools such as TeamMate and help other users within the department.
You will review system efficiency and recommend improvements that reduce cost and improve performance.
You will continue to improve your skills through training and professional development activities.
- Requirements and Qualifications
You need a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Professional certification such as CISA or an equivalent qualification is an added advantage.
You must understand core IT systems including networks, databases, operating systems, and general business applications.
Knowledge of accounting or audit principles is an added advantage because the role connects IT and finance systems.
You should have at least 2 years of experience in IT auditing or a related IT control role.
You need strong analytical skills to evaluate data and identify risks.
You must be able to communicate clearly and work well in a team environment.
You should be able to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Salary Range Estimate
Expected range, UGX 3,500,000 to UGX 7,000,000 per month.
This depends on experience level, certifications, and exposure to banking IT systems.
