About the Role

The Communications and Advocacy Officer at PACE Uganda is essential in driving the organization’s mission by enhancing its visibility through effective strategic communications. This role is significant as it engages diverse stakeholders through compelling storytelling, advocating for public health initiatives, and highlighting program successes to inform and influence policy decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and disseminate a variety of communication materials including advocacy briefs, success stories, newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Oversee and refresh PACE’s digital platforms, ensuring they are engaging and informative.
  • Document program achievements and package them into accessible communication formats.
  • Maintain a content calendar to ensure the timely release of communication materials.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of PACE’s media relations strategy.
  • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and opinion pieces.
  • Monitor media coverage and provide regular reports on media engagement.
  • Coordinate logistics for press events, media briefings, and advocacy initiatives.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a similar role, ideally in an NGO or public health context.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality content tailored for varied audiences.
  • Experience with social media management and digital communication tools.
  • Basic knowledge of design tools like Canva or Adobe is a plus.
  • A genuine interest in public health, advocacy, or development programming.
