About the Role

The Communications Officer position at ZOA plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s narrative and ensuring that the voices of communities affected by crises are heard. This role is essential in promoting ZOA’s mission in Uganda, where effective communication can lead to increased awareness and support for those in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance ZOA’s visibility and outreach.
  • Create engaging content for various platforms, including social media, newsletters, and reports.
  • Coordinate with program teams to gather stories and testimonials from beneficiaries to highlight the impact of ZOA’s work.
  • Manage media relations and cultivate partnerships with local and international media outlets.
  • Organize and participate in events and campaigns that promote ZOA’s mission and objectives.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in communications or public relations, preferably within the NGO sector.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Familiarity with digital communication tools and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team and adapt to varying work environments.
