About the Role

The Business Support Assistant (Assets) position at the World Food Programme (WFP) in Kampala plays a crucial role in ensuring effective asset management within the organization. This role not only supports WFP’s mission to deliver humanitarian aid but also enhances operational efficiency by maintaining compliance with asset management policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for overseeing asset management activities across the Uganda Country Office (UGCO), ensuring adherence to WFP’s asset management standards.
  • Provide guidance and capacity building to Asset Focal Points through training, mentorship, and monitoring to promote best practices in asset management.
  • Supervise and evaluate all asset management training sessions conducted by designated training focal points to ensure they meet quality and policy standards.
  • Manage the receipt, inspection, labeling, and registration of assets to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Assist in conducting regular audits and assessments of asset management processes to identify areas for improvement.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in asset management or logistics, preferably within a humanitarian or development context.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with asset management software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
