About the Role
The Supply Chain Manager position at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Kampala, Uganda, is vital for ensuring the seamless operation of our programs aimed at alleviating human suffering. This role is designed for a dynamic individual who thrives in an international setting and is committed to supporting our mission through effective supply chain management. In the initial months, you will familiarize yourself with IRC’s procurement processes, engage with various stakeholders, and participate in field visits to assess and enhance the logistics framework. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our supply chain, ensuring that resources are available where they are most needed.
Key Responsibilities
- You will lead and coordinate all procurement activities, which includes strategic sourcing and supplier management, ensuring that program needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- Your role will involve ensuring strict adherence to procurement policies and procedures, thereby maintaining transparency, competitiveness, and accountability in all transactions conducted by the IRC.
- Monitoring compliance with organizational policies will be a key part of your responsibilities, which includes conducting regular audits to ensure that all practices align with IRC standards.
- You will manage inventory and assets, overseeing warehouse operations, stock levels, and asset tracking to optimize resource utilization and minimize wastage.
- Preparing and overseeing procurement documentation will be essential, including supplier evaluations and market surveys, to enhance cost efficiency and improve procurement processes.
- Regularly analyzing expenditure and generating reports will be part of your role, helping to inform strategic decisions and improve overall supply chain effectiveness.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is required, with a master’s degree being an added advantage.
- At least 5 years of experience in supply chain management or logistics, preferably within the humanitarian sector or international development.
- Strong understanding of procurement policies and practices, with a proven track record of adhering to compliance and regulatory standards.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to prepare and interpret complex data related to inventory and procurement.
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, capable of managing diverse teams and engaging with various stakeholders effectively.
