- JOB OVERVIEW
This role of Central Truck Driver at Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited focuses on transporting materials, equipment, and supplies that support electricity operations across the country. The job involves moving essential items from central stores to different project and maintenance sites where they are needed for network repairs, installations, and emergency works.
In practical terms, you will operate company trucks to ensure that engineers and field teams receive the right equipment at the right time. - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Transport electrical materials, tools, and equipment from central locations to assigned project and field sites
• Follow delivery schedules and ensure items reach destinations on time without delays
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections before starting any trip, checking brakes, tires, fuel, lights, and overall condition
• Report any mechanical faults or damage immediately to the Fleet Management Officer for action
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck at all times to ensure safe and professional use
• Secure all cargo properly before movement to avoid damage, loss, or accidents during transport
• Follow all traffic laws, road safety rules, and company transport policies while driving
• Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, trip details, and delivery notes for accountability
• Assist in loading and offloading materials when required, especially at field sites
• Respond to urgent transport requests during emergencies such as power failures or system breakdowns
• Support emergency operations by ensuring fast delivery of critical equipment when needed
• Maintain proper communication with supervisors during trips and report any incidents on the road - REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE)
This confirms basic academic grounding needed for understanding instructions, safety procedures, and reporting tasks clearly.
• Valid driving permit with classes A, B, D1, and C1
This shows you are legally allowed to operate company vehicles, including light and heavy trucks used in logistics operations.
• At least 1 year of professional truck driving experience
Experience in logistics, construction, or corporate transport is preferred because it shows you understand delivery schedules, cargo handling, and workplace discipline.
• Good knowledge of road safety and defensive driving
You must understand how to drive safely in both urban traffic and rural roads, especially when carrying sensitive equipment.

- SALARY RANGE (EXPECTED RANGE)
