Ranchers Finest is a leading meat processing and distribution company in Uganda, delivering high-quality beef, pork, poultry, and goat/mutton products through wholesale, retail, and distributor channels. As the company enters a critical growth phase, it is expanding production capacity, strengthening operations, and building systems to compete at a higher level. This role is suited for someone ready to build and drive impact—not just manage.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on leadership role. As General Manager of Operations, you will take full responsibility for the company’s operations—from production to supply chain and financial performance. You will work closely with the Founder & Chairman to translate strategy into execution, make key decisions in dynamic situations, and shape how the business operates. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys building systems from scratch, and wants true ownership of results.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production Management
- Oversee all meat processing activities across beef, pork, poultry, and goat/mutton lines, ensuring consistent quality, efficiency, and output.
- Improve production processes, cold chain systems, food safety standards, and cost efficiency.
- Optimize plant usage, equipment performance, and maintenance planning.
Supply Chain, Logistics & Procurement
- Develop and manage the full supply chain—from sourcing livestock and raw materials to processing, storage, and distribution—ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost control.
- Build strong relationships with farmers, suppliers, and logistics partners across Uganda.
- Identify risks in the supply chain and implement backup sourcing strategies.
- Enhance logistics operations, including route planning, fleet management, and maintaining cold chain standards.
Financial Performance & Cost Control
- Take ownership of operational financial performance, focusing on cost control, profitability, and resource optimization.
- Implement structured budgeting processes and ensure accountability across departments.
- Collaborate with the finance team on performance reporting, analysis, and forecasting.
- Lead cost-saving initiatives such as reducing waste, improving yield, and optimizing procurement without affecting quality.
- Provide data-driven insights to support strategic decisions and future investments.
People & Organizational Leadership
- Lead and develop a strong team of managers and operational staff.
- Promote a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Strengthen organizational capacity and build talent to support long-term growth.
