About the Role
Twyford International Uganda Ltd. is on the lookout for a skilled Geologist to enhance its operations in mineral resource management and extraction. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective exploration and sustainable utilization of mineral resources, which are essential for the company’s manufacturing processes. In the first few months, the new Geologist will engage in field investigations, data analysis, and collaborate with various departments to ensure a seamless integration of geological insights into mining operations. This position not only supports the company’s growth but also contributes to the responsible management of Uganda’s natural resources.
Key Responsibilities
- The Geologist will conduct detailed geological mapping and field investigations to identify and evaluate mineral deposits, ensuring a thorough understanding of the resource landscape.
- Analyze geological data to assess the quality, quantity, and distribution of mineral resources, which will be vital for strategic planning and operations.
- Prepare comprehensive geological maps, cross-sections, and technical reports that will guide mining decisions and operations.
- Support drilling programs by supervising sample collection and logging, ensuring accurate data capture for informed decision-making.
- Provide geological guidance during mining operations, collaborating closely with mining engineers to optimize extraction methods and pit designs.
- Monitor daily mining progress, ensuring adherence to best practices in resource management and quality control.
- Ensure compliance with Ugandan mining regulations and environmental standards by participating in environmental impact assessments and maintaining accurate documentation.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Earth Sciences, Mining Geology, or a related field is essential for this position.
- Membership or eligibility for registration with a recognized professional geological body is highly desirable.
- At least 2–5 years of practical experience in geological exploration, mining, or related fields is expected.
- Experience working with minerals such as limestone, clay, silica, or feldspar will be an advantage.
- Additional certifications in mining practices, GIS technology, or geological software tools are considered beneficial.
