About the Role

The Programme Consultant for Humanitarian Action and Women’s Economic Empowerment at UN Women is a pivotal position aimed at advancing gender equality and empowering women in Uganda. This role plays a crucial part in implementing strategic initiatives that ensure marginalized women and girls receive the necessary support in humanitarian contexts, thereby fostering their participation in economic development and peacebuilding efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of Gender in Humanitarian Action (GiHA) and Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) programs for the UN Women Uganda Country Office.
  • Provide technical support to program execution, ensuring alignment with UN Women’s objectives and strategies.
  • Manage monitoring and reporting processes to evaluate program effectiveness and impact.
  • Guide budget management and personnel oversight within the GiHA/WEE program team.
  • Foster partnerships and support resource mobilization strategies to enhance program sustainability.
  • Contribute to knowledge building efforts, sharing best practices and lessons learned across the organization.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in social sciences, gender studies, international development, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management, particularly in humanitarian action or women’s economic empowerment.
  • Strong understanding of gender issues and the socio-economic challenges faced by women in Uganda.
  • Proven ability to build partnerships and engage with diverse stakeholders, including government, NGOs, and community organizations.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with a strong focus on results and impact.
