About the Role

The Programs Director Volunteer position at YAREN Organisation plays a crucial role in enhancing the lives of refugees and vulnerable communities in Kampala. This position exists to ensure that community programs are effectively planned, executed, and evaluated, aligning with YAREN’s mission of empowering individuals towards self-resilience. In the initial months, you will immerse yourself in the organization’s operational frameworks, engage with local partners, and start coordinating impactful projects that foster growth and independence among community members. Key Responsibilities

  • You will oversee and guide the planning and execution of community programs, ensuring each initiative aligns with YAREN’s overarching goals of empowerment and sustainability.
  • Your role will involve coordinating with local partners and volunteers to facilitate program activities, making sure resources are utilized efficiently and effectively.
  • Monitoring and evaluating program progress will be part of your daily tasks, ensuring that objectives are met and that the impact of the programs is measurable.
  • You will prepare and present regular reports to stakeholders, highlighting successes and areas for improvement in program delivery.
  • Supporting fundraising efforts will be a critical aspect of your role, as you will assist in the development of proposals that secure resources for ongoing and new initiatives.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A demonstrated background in program management or project coordination, particularly within nonprofit, humanitarian, or community development contexts, is essential.
  • You should possess strong skills in stakeholder engagement and partnership building, enabling effective collaboration with communities, local organizations, and donors.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are necessary, as you will work closely with diverse teams and facilitate various community initiatives.
  • The ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks is crucial, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A strong interest or background in areas such as refugee support, livelihoods, and social impact initiatives will greatly enhance your effectiveness in this role.
  • Comfort with on-site work in Kampala and engaging with community members in varying circumstances is a must.
  • While a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, management, or a related field is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement.
