About the Role

Airtable is seeking experienced Software Engineers specializing in Infrastructure to enhance their rapidly evolving backend systems. This role is pivotal in improving the infrastructure that supports Airtable’s innovative no-code platform, which is relied upon by over 500,000 organizations globally. In the first few months, engineers will dive into projects that focus on scaling systems, enhancing developer experiences, and ensuring the reliability of Airtable’s services. You will collaborate with various teams to tackle complex system-level problems and build solutions that directly impact the company’s growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

• You will lead initiatives to identify and implement significant improvements in Airtable’s infrastructure, ensuring alignment with both engineering and business objectives.
• Your work will involve scaling critical systems within the Asynchronous Serving team, enhancing the efficiency of background tasks and job queues.
• You will contribute to the Compute team by helping to manage the Kubernetes-based platform that supports all Airtable services, including new AI functionalities.
• In the Traffic Engineering team, you will focus on optimizing traffic management across Airtable’s network, ensuring high reliability and security.
• Engaging in the development of custom Kubernetes operators will be part of your role, aimed at efficiently managing vital workloads.
• You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all enhancements are successfully deployed and integrated into existing systems.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering with a focus on backend systems and infrastructure.
• Proficient in working with cloud-based technologies and container orchestration, particularly Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of API gateways and edge networking technologies such as Envoy, Nginx, or similar platforms.
• Experience with systems-level programming and the ability to solve complex engineering challenges effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration across various teams and departments.
