1. Job Overview

Tiko is looking for a passionate and results driven Programme Officer to support programs that improve the health and wellbeing of young people in Uganda, especially adolescents and youth aged 15 to 24 years.

This role focuses on addressing real challenges that young people face every day, including limited access to health services, lack of accurate health information, and social barriers such as stigma and gender inequality. You will be working on programs that focus on sexual and reproductive health, HIV prevention, and mental health support.

In practical terms, your job will involve coordinating youth health programs, working with community partners, supporting service delivery, and ensuring that young people can access safe, friendly, and effective health services.

2. Key Responsibilities

As a Programme Officer at Tiko, your daily work will focus on planning, coordination, and monitoring of youth focused health programs.

Program Implementation and Coordination

  • Support the rollout of youth health programs across different communities
  • Work closely with health facilities, partners, and community organizations
  • Ensure program activities are implemented according to plan and timelines

Community Engagement and Outreach

  • Engage with young people and community groups to promote access to health services
  • Support awareness campaigns on sexual and reproductive health, HIV prevention, and mental health
  • Identify barriers affecting youth access to services and propose solutions

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Track program performance using data collection tools
  • Prepare reports on program progress, challenges, and impact
  • Ensure accurate documentation of activities and outcomes

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and health service providers
  • Build strong relationships with partners involved in youth health programs
  • Support meetings, workshops, and training sessions

Data and Program Improvement

  • Analyze program data to identify trends and gaps
  • Recommend improvements to increase program effectiveness
  • Support innovation in service delivery to reach more young people

3. Requirements & Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in NGO programs, preferably in youth or health related projects
  • Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health, HIV prevention, or youth development programs
  • Strong communication and community engagement skills
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks

4. Salary Range (Expected Range)

For a Programme Officer role in Uganda’s NGO sector:

Expected Salary Range: UGX 2,500,000 – UGX 6,500,000 per month

Salary depends on:

  • Experience in public health or youth programs
  • Level of responsibility within the project
  • Donor funding structure and organization scale

This role is based in Kampala, with possible fieldwork in surrounding districts.
