Job Overview
Hariss International Limited is looking for a Utility Maintenance Technician to support its manufacturing operations in Kampala, Uganda. This role focuses on keeping essential factory systems running without interruption.
You will work on utility systems that support production such as water supply, compressed air systems, boilers, cooling systems, and general plant utilities. Your work directly supports food and beverage production lines, so any downtime affects production output.
In real terms, you will inspect equipment daily, fix faults quickly, support preventive maintenance schedules, and ensure machines and utility systems operate safely. You will work closely with the maintenance and production teams to avoid breakdowns and keep operations stable.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out routine inspection of utility systems including compressors, boilers, pumps, and water systems.
Detect faults early and perform repairs to avoid production stoppages.
Support preventive maintenance schedules and ensure all utility equipment is serviced on time.
Monitor machine performance and report any abnormal readings or failures.
Assist in installation, testing, and commissioning of utility equipment.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs and report all repair activities.
Ensure proper use of tools and follow safety procedures at all times.
Respond quickly to breakdowns and restore systems to working condition.
Support energy efficiency by identifying waste and recommending improvements.
Work closely with production teams to reduce downtime and maintain smooth operations.
Requirements and Qualifications
Applicants should hold a Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field.
Candidates should have hands on experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of utility systems such as compressors, boilers, pumps, and cooling systems is required.
Ability to read technical manuals, machine diagrams, and maintenance instructions is important.
Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems is necessary for troubleshooting.
Candidates should demonstrate discipline, attention to detail, and strong problem solving ability.
Experience in food and beverage manufacturing or similar production industries is an added advantage.
Ability to work in shifts and respond to emergency breakdowns is required.
Salary Range (Expected Range)
Expected salary range is UGX 1,200,000 to UGX 2,500,000 per month.
Final pay depends on experience level, technical skills, and industrial maintenance background.
