About the Role

The Manager of Non-Financial Risk at Stanbic Bank plays a crucial role in safeguarding the organization against potential threats related to financial crime and operational risk. This position requires a seasoned professional who can navigate complex risk landscapes, ensuring that the bank adheres to both internal and external regulations while fostering a culture of proactive risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on Anti-Money Laundering and financial crime to help the business identify and address suspicious activities in line with group standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Group Anti-Money Laundering team to stay updated on investigative techniques and intelligence gathering methods.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Operational Risk Management Framework to promote compliance across the organization.
  • Enhance the risk and control culture by sharing knowledge and raising awareness of the importance of effective risk management practices.
  • Establish and lead a Customer Complaints Risk review process to address and mitigate potential risks.
  • Continuously evaluate existing Risk Management Frameworks to ensure their relevance in the face of emerging risks and threats.
  • Proactively identify and monitor suspicious activities associated with Third Parties, conducting periodic checks and ongoing surveillance to protect the bank’s interests.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Commerce, Finance and Accounting, Risk Management, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • 8-10 years of demonstrated experience in a leadership role focused on Non-Financial Risk.
  • Strong understanding of risk appetite, risk response strategies, and process improvement concepts.
  • Familiarity with operational risk and financial reporting risk characteristics.
  • Practical knowledge of Information Risk frameworks and standards, such as the Information Security Forum (ISF) Standard of Good Practice.
  • Experience with risk and control frameworks, particularly within the financial services sector.
