About the Role

The Chief Accountant position at MOBISERVE in Kampala is a pivotal role that ensures the financial integrity and compliance of the organization. This position is crucial for driving the company’s financial strategy and operational excellence, thus influencing overall business success.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and the general ledger.
• Prepare financial statements monthly, quarterly, and annually according to Ugandan Financial Reporting Standards (UFRS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as necessary.
• Compile monthly Group reporting packages for the corporate office.
• Ensure adherence to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and other statutory contributions.
• Establish and maintain robust internal financial controls and procedures to protect company assets.
• Coordinate the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and conduct variance analysis for informed strategic decision-making.
• Monitor cash flow and financial activities to enhance overall financial performance.
• Lead, mentor, and train the finance and accounting team to foster professional growth.
• Identify and implement process improvements and best practices in finance and accounting.
• Advise management on financial planning, risk management, and relevant regulatory changes.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is preferred.
• Proven experience in accounting and financial management roles, ideally in a Ugandan context.
• Strong understanding of Ugandan accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience in team management.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
