About the Role

The President of Ophelia Brown Children’s Foundation of Hope at UBC TV plays a critical role in shaping the foundation’s mission to uplift and empower children and youth through media and community initiatives. This part-time, remote leadership position is crucial for aligning the foundation’s strategies with its vision, ensuring that impactful programs are developed and effectively communicated. In the initial months, you will engage with a variety of stakeholders, including community partners and sponsors, to foster relationships that enhance the foundation’s outreach. Your leadership will be instrumental in guiding fundraising efforts and managing resources to maximize the foundation’s impact on the communities it serves.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will oversee the strategic direction of the foundation, ensuring that all programs align with its mission of supporting children’s welfare and education.
  • Your role will involve developing and implementing programs that leverage media to inspire hope and create positive change for children and youth in the community.
  • As President, you will lead fundraising initiatives, cultivating relationships with donors and sponsors to secure resources necessary for the foundation’s growth.
  • Collaboration with UBC TV executives and media teams will be essential to integrate foundation initiatives into broadcast and digital content, enhancing visibility and community engagement.
  • You will manage budgets at a high level, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support various programs and initiatives.
  • Your responsibilities will also include representing the foundation at virtual meetings and events, communicating its impact and performance to stakeholders with clarity and confidence.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A strong background in nonprofit management or a mission-driven organization, with proven leadership and governance skills.
  • Experience in community engagement, partnership building, and development, with an ability to foster relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in media, communications, or public relations, particularly in contexts involving youth-focused initiatives and digital platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, enabling effective handling of part-time responsibilities in a remote setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with experience presenting ideas to various audiences and representing organizations in public forums.
  • A demonstrated commitment to advocacy for children’s welfare and education, with an understanding of the challenges faced by underserved communities.
