About the Role
The EU Delegation to Uganda is excited to announce a funded traineeship opportunity for recent graduates interested in the field of international relations, specifically within the Political Press and Information (PPI) Section. This role is essential as it supports the EU’s mission to foster cooperation between the EU and Uganda, promoting shared values and interests. Over the course of this six-month traineeship, successful candidates will engage in various activities that deepen their understanding of diplomatic work. In the initial months, trainees will participate in research, attend meetings, and become familiar with the dynamics of international cooperation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research on various aspects of cooperation between the EU and Uganda, providing valuable insights that contribute to strategic planning.
- Assist in drafting analytical reports and briefings that summarize findings and recommendations related to political and cooperation matters.
- Support the coordination and consolidation of data and inputs from different EU Member States, ensuring accurate information flow within the delegation.
- Participate in the preparation and organization of events aimed at promoting EU-Uganda relations, contributing to logistics and planning.
- Attend meetings and events, taking detailed notes and preparing reports that capture key discussions and outcomes for future reference.
- Engage with youth initiatives by supporting programs that enhance the involvement of young people in EU-related activities.
- Assist with communication and visibility efforts, contributing to the delegation’s outreach through various media platforms.
- Help maintain and organize archival records related to EU-Uganda cooperation to ensure easy access to historical data.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Candidates must currently reside in Uganda due to local health and security considerations.
- A Bachelor’s degree in political science, social science, economics, communications, history, or a relevant field is required to ensure a solid foundation for the role.
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English is necessary for effective communication and reporting.
- Demonstrated motivation to learn, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team environment, is essential.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills are critical to succeed in this role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is expected to facilitate various tasks.
- Knowledge of Uganda’s institutional context and experience with social media platforms would be advantageous for communication efforts.
- Candidates should have less than one year of professional experience post-graduation, excluding internships or volunteer work during or after university.
