About the Role
As a Software Engineer in AI Data at Speechify, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our text-to-speech technology by building efficient data pipelines that fuel our AI models. This position is essential for maintaining the high standards of our datasets, ensuring that millions of users can access our innovative audio products seamlessly. In your first few months, you will collaborate closely with AI scientists, tackle complex challenges related to data sourcing, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our systems. Your work will directly impact the scalability and efficiency of our AI training processes, helping to make reading more accessible for everyone.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and explore new audio data sources, creating reliable pipelines that integrate them into our training datasets effectively.
Design and enhance large-scale data-processing systems, focusing on optimizing data quality, throughput, and operational costs.
Work closely with AI scientists to refine training datasets, ensuring they meet the needs of our next-generation AI models.
Take full ownership of engineering projects, from initial problem identification through to implementation and ongoing enhancements.
Monitor the performance of data pipelines and make necessary adjustments to improve efficiency and reliability.
Document your work processes and findings, contributing to the team’s knowledge base and best practices for data engineering.
Requirements & Qualifications
A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in software engineering.
At least 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong foundation in backend development.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Bash, especially in Linux environments.
Experience in building and maintaining production systems, with a focus on data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
Strong problem-solving abilities, along with a proactive attitude and capacity to work independently in uncertain situations.
