Job Overview
This role places you at the center of sales growth and market expansion for a leading manufacturer and distributor of consumer appliances operating in Uganda. The Area Business Developer will focus on building strong distributor networks, increasing product availability, and improving sales performance across different customer channels.
You will work directly with distributors, retailers, and business customers in Kampala and surrounding regions. Your main goal is to grow market share, ensure products reach the right customers, and improve how the brand performs in the Ugandan market.
In real work terms, this role means you will be on the ground. You will visit distributors, track sales performance, solve supply challenges, support marketing activities, and make sure products are visible and moving in the market.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Growth and Market Expansion
You will drive sales growth by working closely with distributors and retail partners. You will identify new business opportunities in supermarkets, electronics shops, institutions, and corporate buyers. You will also explore new areas where product demand is growing but not fully served.
Distributor and Channel Development
You will support existing distributors to improve performance and help them expand their network. This includes identifying sub distributors, checking stock availability, and making sure products reach retail points on time. You will also help solve operational issues such as delivery delays and stock gaps.
Market Reporting and Analysis
You will collect daily and weekly sales data from the field. You will prepare reports that show performance trends, customer feedback, and competitor activity. This information will help the company adjust pricing, marketing, and distribution strategies.
Customer Support and After Sales Service
You will handle customer complaints and ensure they are resolved quickly. You will guide customers to proper service channels and support warranty processes. You will also ensure that customers get proper product support after purchase.
Marketing and Brand Support
You will support marketing teams during promotions, product launches, and field activations. You will help increase brand visibility by coordinating local campaigns and working with retail partners on in store promotions.
Performance Tracking
You will monitor performance of distributors, service agents, and field teams. You will track key performance indicators such as sales targets, stock turnover, and customer satisfaction levels. You will push for improvement where performance is low.
Compliance and Financial Monitoring
You will monitor distributor payments and ensure credit terms are followed. You will also support compliance with company policies, pricing structures, and market regulations.
Requirements and Qualifications
Applicants should hold a Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
Candidates should have 5 to 7 years of experience in sales, business development, or distribution management.
Experience in consumer electronics, home appliances, or fast moving consumer goods is required.
Strong understanding of the Ugandan market and retail distribution systems is important.
Applicants must have experience working with distributors, key accounts, or large retail customers.
Good skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and reporting tools are required for data tracking and analysis.
Strong communication and negotiation skills are necessary for working with partners and customers.
Ability to work in field environments and travel within assigned areas is expected.
Salary Range (Expected Range)
Expected salary range is UGX 4,000,000 to UGX 5,000,000 per month.
The final offer may depend on experience, performance history, and product industry knowledge.
