About the Role

The Chief Accountant at Marriott in Kampala plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the hotel by managing day-to-day accounting processes. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute general ledger processes and provide support to clients in understanding these operations.
  • Oversee and coordinate accounting projects, ensuring adherence to established standards.
  • Conduct audits of Accounting SOPs across various property areas.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, analyses, and presentations.
  • Balance credit card ledgers and verify group contracts as needed.
  • Document profits and losses accurately, monitoring applicable taxes.
  • Maintain a strong operational control environment to protect financial assets.
  • Guide other departments on budgeting and accounting procedures.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A four-year degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; no prior experience necessary.
  • Alternatively, a two-year degree in Finance or Accounting with at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, including spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team leadership.
