About the Role
The Driver position at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Kampala is crucial for ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of personnel involved in key project initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport authorized personnel to various locations while adhering to traffic regulations and UNOPS safety standards.
- Conduct routine checks on vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition, addressing any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules to support operational transparency.
- Assist in administrative tasks such as organizing transport schedules and coordinating with other team members for efficient logistics.
- Provide support during events or meetings by ensuring timely transportation for participants and necessary equipment.
- Respond to emergency situations or unexpected changes in schedule with agility, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A valid driver’s license appropriate for the class of vehicle being operated, with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in a driving role, ideally within an international or organizational context, showcasing reliability and professionalism.
- Strong understanding of local traffic laws and regulations, ensuring safety and compliance during operations.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; proficiency in additional languages is an advantage.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to address minor vehicle issues and coordinate maintenance effectively.
