- Job Overview
This role leads the bank’s card business, merchant payments, and online transactions. You will drive how customers pay using cards, how businesses accept payments, and how online payments grow across the bank.
In real work, you will manage POS machines, card products, and e commerce platforms. You will grow the number of merchants using the bank’s systems and increase card usage by customers. You will also improve how customers pay online and ensure systems are secure and reliable.
You will work with different teams such as IT, Risk, Retail Banking, and Corporate Banking. You will also deal with external partners like merchants and payment service providers. Your main goal is to grow revenue, improve customer experience, and expand the bank’s digital payments business.
- Key Responsibilities
You will develop strategies to grow card payments, merchant services, and e commerce transactions.
You will identify and onboard new merchants and partners to expand the bank’s payment network.
You will manage daily operations of card issuing, POS services, and online payment platforms.
You will track performance of transactions, revenue, and customer usage.
You will build strong relationships with merchants, partners, and regulators.
You will introduce new products and improve existing payment solutions.
You will ensure all systems meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
You will monitor risks such as fraud and take action to reduce losses.
You will manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance of the unit.
You will improve customer experience by making payment systems easy and reliable.
You will lead a team, set targets, and ensure high performance.
You will coordinate with internal departments to align payment strategies with overall bank goals.
- Requirements and Qualifications
You need a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
You must have at least 10 years of experience in banking or financial services.
You should have strong experience in card business, merchant acquiring, or e commerce payments.
You need at least 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
You must understand payment systems, banking operations, and compliance requirements.
You should have strong leadership, communication, and decision making skills.
You must be able to analyze data and drive business growth.
- Salary Range Estimate
Expected range, UGX 15,000,000 to UGX 30,000,000 per month.
This depends on experience, leadership level, and performance.
