About the Role

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer plays a crucial role in enhancing public health initiatives by ensuring effective tracking and assessment of health programs. This position is vital in providing insights that drive improvements in outbreak responses and health security initiatives, directly impacting the health outcomes of communities in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement comprehensive M&E frameworks and logic models to monitor health program activities.
  • Develop innovative data collection tools to efficiently track key performance indicators and outcome measures.
  • Conduct field visits to assess implementation progress in priority districts and gather real-time feedback for decision-making.
  • Collaborate with project teams to compile and analyze performance data from various health stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit detailed progress reports, including insights that inform strategic planning and program enhancements.
  • Train project staff and local stakeholders on M&E principles and effective data collection techniques.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree in M&E or related fields is preferred.
  • Postgraduate training in M&E or Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETP) is an advantage.
  • At least 3 years of experience in M&E for health programs, especially related to outbreak response and infectious disease surveillance.
  • Experience collaborating with government health systems and managing donor-funded projects.
  • Proven ability to design and apply M&E frameworks and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data.
