About the Role

As a Mobile Application Developer at MOTOFIX Uganda, you will play a crucial role in revolutionizing roadside assistance and vehicle repair services. Your expertise will enable the creation and maintenance of mobile applications that connect motorists with skilled mechanics, enhancing their experience during unexpected breakdowns. In your first few months, you will focus on developing new features, ensuring app performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to address real-world challenges faced by users. This position not only supports the company’s mission to provide timely assistance but also contributes significantly to the digital transformation of the automotive service industry in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

• You will design and implement new features for the mobile application based on user feedback and market needs, ensuring a user-friendly experience.
• Your role will involve troubleshooting and debugging issues to maintain high application performance and reliability across various devices.
• Collaborating with product managers and designers, you will help translate complex roadside scenarios into intuitive mobile solutions that cater to both motorists and mechanics.
• You will integrate secure payment solutions and real-time tracking functionalities into the application, enhancing user trust and satisfaction.
• Conducting code reviews and contributing to technical documentation will be essential parts of your responsibilities, ensuring quality and knowledge sharing within the team.
• You will optimize the application for low bandwidth scenarios common in Uganda, ensuring accessibility for all users regardless of their mobile environment.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is essential for this role.
• Solid experience in mobile application development, with a portfolio showcasing production-ready applications is required.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Kotlin or Java for Android development, along with knowledge of cross-platform frameworks like Flutter or React Native, is highly advantageous.
• You must have a strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and be familiar with modern development frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are critical, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment.
