Job Description – Project Manager
The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the full project lifecycle, ensuring that delivery aligns with MTN’s project management standards and approved scopes. The role ensures projects are completed on time, meet quality expectations, and follow a customer-focused approach. It also involves managing risks, resources, procurement, contracts, and stakeholder communication, while ensuring proper project closure and smooth handover to internal clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver projects in line with best-practice project management methodologies and MTN governance standards
- Execute projects according to approved scope and requirements set with MTN Group
- Represent projects in steering committee (SteerCo) meetings, providing updates and securing approvals at key stages
- Prepare and maintain regular project reports, including status updates, dashboards, and risk registers
- Ensure timely completion of all project activities while maintaining quality standards
- Manage project closure processes, including formal handover and sign-off to relevant business units
- Develop comprehensive project plans outlining milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and critical paths
- Ensure all projects are delivered with a strong focus on customer experience and impact
- Oversee contract management to ensure compliance with agreed terms and performance expectations
- Manage procurement processes and ensure accurate reporting of procurement activities
- Identify potential risks, assess their impact, and implement mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle
- Lead project teams by allocating tasks, motivating members, monitoring performance, and resolving conflicts
- Maintain accurate and complete project documentation in line with audit and governance requirements
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Science or a Commercial field)
- Certification or knowledge in project management methodologies such as PMI, PRINCE2, or PMBOK
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in project management
- Experience managing IT projects with a solid understanding of ITIL standards and best practices
- Proven ability to prepare detailed project reports, budgets, and communication materials
- Experience working with a reputable organization
