About the Role
The Reporting Lead at Andariya plays a crucial role in overseeing the analytical reporting functions that drive understanding and decision-making in media, advocacy, and humanitarian responses. This position is essential for translating complex multilingual digital data into actionable insights, thereby supporting the organization’s mission to uncover suppressed histories and amplify collective narratives across politically fractured regions in Africa. In the first few months, you will immerse yourself in Andariya’s methodologies, gain familiarity with internal processes, and begin to craft high-quality reports that reflect the organization’s commitment to ethical and rigorous analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the production of comprehensive research reports that provide valuable insights into emerging narratives and risks in digital ecosystems.
- Provide strategic guidance for collecting digital data from both open and closed platforms, ensuring all practices adhere to ethical standards and data protection regulations.
- Ensure the accuracy and consistency of reports through rigorous internal validation processes, maintaining the credibility and integrity of the findings.
- Set analytical priorities and frameworks for examining pressing issues such as disinformation, hate speech, and civic narratives across various digital platforms.
- Oversee qualitative analyses to capture the nuanced understanding of tone, intent, and socio-political contexts that shape digital communications.
- Design data visualizations that effectively communicate complex findings to a diverse audience, including stakeholders who may not have a technical background.
- Refine keyword strategies and thematic taxonomies to ensure that monitoring parameters remain relevant and responsive to evolving project needs.
- Document monitoring methodologies and analytical frameworks thoroughly to support consistency and preserve institutional knowledge.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in research, media analysis, or reporting, with a strong background in analytical roles.
- Exceptional report writing and synthesis skills, with an ability to convey complex findings in a clear and actionable manner suitable for various audiences.
- Experience in areas related to disinformation, hate speech, media and civil society, and digital rights is highly desirable.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities, allowing for the identification of patterns and trends in large sets of data.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, consistent, and evidence-based reports.
- Familiarity with digital monitoring tools, data visualization platforms, and proficiency in using spreadsheets is an advantage.
- A strong ethical judgment and discretion when managing sensitive or high-risk content.
