About the Role

Join The Dream Foundation of Uganda as a volunteer supporting abandoned pregnant teens in Kampala. This role is vital as it addresses the pressing issue of young girls who face abandonment and stigma during one of the most challenging times in their lives. As a volunteer, you will engage deeply with these young women, building relationships that can foster hope and resilience. Your days will involve providing mentorship, teaching crucial life skills, and facilitating educational sessions to prepare them for a brighter future. Your time with us will not only impact their lives but will also enrich your own through cultural immersion and meaningful connection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate workshops focused on life skills and prenatal health, empowering young mothers with the knowledge needed for self-care and parenting.
  • Provide one-on-one mentorship to each teen, offering emotional support and a listening ear as they navigate their challenges.
  • Assist in organizing educational sessions that cover topics such as health, nutrition, and child development.
  • Collaborate with local healthcare providers to ensure the teens receive necessary medical attention and health education.
  • Encourage and promote community engagement, helping the teens build connections that foster support and friendship.
  • Document your experiences and the progress of the teens to create reports that reflect the impact of your contributions.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A genuine passion for social work and a commitment to supporting vulnerable populations, particularly young women.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with teens and build trust-based relationships.
  • Previous volunteering or work experience in education, health care, or social services is highly desirable.
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to adapt to different cultural settings and situations.
  • Basic understanding of issues surrounding maternal health and teenage pregnancy will be an advantage.
