About the Role

The Youth Lead position at Automation Labs is a pivotal role aimed at empowering the youth of Uganda through impactful programs that foster social change. This full-time, on-site role in Kampala is designed to engage young individuals and facilitate their development and leadership skills within their communities. In your initial months, you can expect to immerse yourself in the local youth culture, build strong relationships with various youth groups, and gain hands-on experience in coordinating workshops and outreach initiatives. The Youth Lead will work collaboratively with a diverse team, ensuring that programs are not only aligned with the organization’s objectives but are also responsive to the evolving needs of the youth. This role is crucial for driving positive change and fostering inclusive participation in community development.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will design and implement youth-focused programs that address both social and economic challenges faced by young people in the community.
  • Your role will involve engaging with various youth groups to understand their needs and interests, thereby tailoring programs that resonate with their aspirations.
  • Facilitating workshops and training sessions will be a key part of your responsibilities, where you will mentor participants and encourage active involvement.
  • You will prepare detailed program reports that assess the impact and effectiveness of initiatives, contributing to the organization’s monitoring and evaluation efforts.
  • Identifying emerging trends and needs among the youth will be essential, as you will propose innovative program ideas to address these issues.
  • As a representative of Automation Labs, you will attend youth forums and stakeholder meetings, advocating for the organization’s mission and engaging with partners and community leaders.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in youth leadership, showcasing your ability to organize and guide youth initiatives effectively.
  • Practical experience in developing and implementing youth programs, with a focus on monitoring and evaluating their outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, including strong facilitation and presentation abilities to engage diverse groups of youth and stakeholders.
  • A background in Social Work, Community Development, Education, or a related field is necessary to understand the principles of youth development and protection.
  • You must possess a relevant diploma or degree that supports your expertise in community engagement and development.
  • Experience in project reporting, basic monitoring, and evaluation techniques, as well as stakeholder engagement, will be considered an advantage.
  • A commitment to inclusive, gender-sensitive, and non-discriminatory practices in youth programming is vital for this role.
