Job Description
The Teaching Assistant will support lecturers in delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and research activities. The role involves facilitating tutorials and practical sessions, assisting with the preparation of instructional materials, supporting assessments, mentoring students, and contributing to departmental research and academic projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct tutorials, discussion groups, and practical classes under the guidance of a lecturer.
- Assist in the preparation of teaching and learning resources.
- Support the administration and marking of coursework, assignments, tests, and examinations.
- Guide and supervise students during practical sessions, fieldwork, and academic projects.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance where required.
- Provide academic support, mentorship, and guidance to students.
- Help students understand course content, learning outcomes, and academic expectations.
- Participate in departmental and faculty research initiatives.
- Assist academic staff with research projects, publications, and other scholarly activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Laws (LL.B) with at least a Second Class Upper Division or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Enrollment in, or completion of, a Master of Laws (LL.M) programme in a relevant field is an added advantage and may be required by some universities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technologies.
