Description
- Job Overview
This role sits at the center of electricity connection projects across Uganda. You will plan and drive projects from start to finish, making sure homes and businesses get connected on time. Your work will cover major funded programs such as those supported by African Development Bank, KfW, and TBEA.
In real terms, you will organize field teams, track materials, solve delays, and ensure every connection meets safety and regulatory standards. You will also guide regional officers and keep projects moving even when challenges arise in the field. This is a leadership role that mixes technical work, planning, and people management.
- Key Responsibilities
You will build clear project plans and break them into weekly and daily targets. You will assign teams, tools, and materials so work runs without interruption.
You will monitor field progress closely. Expect regular site updates, calls with regional officers, and quick decisions when issues come up such as delayed materials or access problems.
You will prepare reports that show progress, delays, and results. These reports will guide management decisions and donor expectations.
You will work with many stakeholders. This includes customers waiting for power, contractors doing installations, and government bodies such as Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development, and Electricity Regulatory Authority. Clear communication is key.
You will also supervise regional Connection Officers. You will guide their work, review performance, and ensure they deliver consistent service.
- Requirements and Qualifications
You need a degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. This gives you the technical base to understand power systems and connection standards.
At least five years of experience in electricity or utility projects is required. You should have handled field operations, not just office work.
Experience leading teams matters. You should be comfortable managing technicians, contractors, and regional staff.
Membership in professional bodies such as UIPE or ERB strengthens your profile. Certifications from ERA or similar bodies give you an advantage because they show you understand local compliance.
You must be organized and able to handle multiple projects at once. Strong reporting skills are also important since your reports guide funding and decisions.
- Salary Range, Expected Range
UGX 4,500,000 to UGX 8,000,000 per month
