About the Role

The Civil Engineer position at Birus Property Services Ltd is integral to the planning and execution of high-quality commercial properties in Uganda. This role not only focuses on technical aspects but also supports the company’s commitment to sustainable development and operational excellence, making it crucial for the growth of the real estate sector in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead feasibility studies and site assessments for new developments, ensuring effective conceptual designs.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for various civil works.
• Ensure compliance with Uganda’s building codes and environmental regulations while maintaining international best practices.
• Collaborate closely with architects and consultants for cohesive project designs.
• Supervise daily construction activities to ensure adherence to approved plans and quality standards.
• Conduct site inspections and quality control checks, monitoring project timelines and mitigating risks.
• Manage relationships with contractors to enforce safety protocols and contractual obligations.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs for existing properties, addressing structural integrity and tenant needs.
• Assist the operations team in resolving tenant issues, repairs, and property upgrades.
• Provide strategic advice on cost-effective rehabilitation options to maintain property value.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in project management and construction supervision.
• Strong understanding of Ugandan building codes and safety regulations.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in engineering design software and project management tools.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
