About the Role

The Truck Driver position at RamcoGas is crucial for ensuring the safe and timely delivery of LPG products throughout Kampala and its surrounding areas. This role is not only about driving; it involves adhering to strict safety protocols and maintaining the integrity of the products being transported. In the first few months, you will familiarize yourself with the company’s operational procedures, navigate local routes efficiently, and develop a strong relationship with the team at the Kampala branch. Your reliable transportation services will contribute significantly to the company’s reputation and operational success.

Key Responsibilities

• You will be responsible for the safe transport of LPG cylinders and related goods to various designated locations, ensuring that all deliveries meet the highest safety standards.
• Proper handling, loading, and offloading of company products will be a priority to prevent any damage and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Conducting daily vehicle checks, including assessments of fuel levels, oil, water, brakes, and tires, will be essential to ensure operational safety and efficiency.
• You must keep the vehicle clean and roadworthy, adhering to the company’s maintenance schedules and reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
• Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents will help in tracking performance and ensuring accountability.
• Strict adherence to road safety rules and company policies is required to maintain a safe driving environment.
• When not driving, you will support branch operations by assisting with cylinder movements and other logistical tasks within the depot.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A valid Ugandan driving license, preferably Class CM, CH, or DL, is essential for this role.
• At least 3 years of experience driving heavy commercial vehicles, particularly in fuel or LPG transportation, is required to ensure safety and efficiency.
• A good knowledge of roads in Kampala and surrounding areas will enable you to navigate routes effectively.
• Demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility, safety awareness, and reliability is crucial for maintaining high operational standards.
• The ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, is necessary to meet the demands of the job.
• Basic mechanical knowledge will be considered an advantage, helping you address minor vehicle issues independently.
