About the Role
The Finance and Administration Officer position at SNV in Gulu is crucial to supporting the implementation of a multi-year school feeding program in partnership with the World Food Program. This role focuses on ensuring the financial integrity and administrative efficiency of projects aimed at improving food security and nutrition in Uganda’s schools. In the initial months, you will familiarize yourself with SNV’s operational frameworks, engage with various stakeholders, and contribute to financial reporting and budgeting processes. Your work will directly impact the sustainability of school feeding initiatives, enhancing educational outcomes and community health.
Key Responsibilities
- You will manage financial transactions and ensure compliance with SNV and donor regulations, providing accurate records and timely reporting.
- Prepare and monitor budgets for the school feeding program, adjusting forecasts as required to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Conduct regular audits of financial documents to maintain transparency and accountability in all project expenditures.
- Support the administrative functions of the project, including procurement processes, logistics coordination, and documentation management.
- Collaborate with program staff to analyze financial data and provide insights that inform strategic decisions and operational improvements.
- Engage with local stakeholders to facilitate training sessions on financial literacy and project management, enhancing community involvement and capacity.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required to ensure a solid understanding of financial principles.
- At least three years of relevant experience in finance or administration, preferably within a non-profit or development context.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, to manage and analyze financial data effectively.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, enabling you to identify discrepancies and propose solutions promptly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing for effective collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.
