About the Role

The Senior Programme Officer (ITC Team Lead, Trade for Jobs Uganda) plays a critical role within the International Trade Centre (ITC) by leading initiatives aimed at enhancing trade-led economic development in Uganda. This position is essential as it directly contributes to the Trade for Jobs Uganda project, which seeks to create decent jobs and improve income generation for vulnerable populations. In the initial months, the officer will engage in project planning, stakeholder coordination, and the establishment of operational frameworks that align with national development priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• The Senior Programme Officer will develop and implement detailed project plans that outline key milestones, objectives, and expected outcomes for the Trade for Jobs Uganda initiative.
• They will monitor and evaluate the progress of project activities, ensuring that implementation aligns with both ITC and ILO standards, and propose necessary adjustments based on analytical findings.
• This role requires regular collaboration with stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector representatives, and local communities, to foster a cooperative environment for project success.
• The officer will prepare comprehensive reports detailing project developments, challenges encountered, and strategic recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Engaging with Swedish companies to attract investment and expertise will also be a fundamental part of the job, aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of local SMEs.
• Finally, the officer will lead capacity-building efforts for local partners, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to sustain project benefits beyond the funding period.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Development Studies, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is preferred for this senior role.
• Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project management, with a focus on trade, economic development, or international cooperation.
• Proven experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects and working collaboratively with governmental and non-governmental entities is essential.
• Strong analytical skills are required to assess project performance and identify areas for improvement effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for engaging diverse stakeholders and fostering partnerships.
