About the Role
The Lecturer position at Uganda Christian University is a vital role within the academic community, focusing on the instruction and mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement engaging course content for undergraduate and graduate programs in Civil Engineering, ensuring alignment with academic standards and industry needs.
- Conduct and publish high-quality research in the field of Civil Engineering and related disciplines, contributing to the university’s academic reputation.
- Secure research funding by applying for grants and collaborating with various organizations, both within and outside the university.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate students, providing guidance and support in their academic and research endeavors.
- Develop learning materials and maintain accurate academic records to track student progress, attendance, and achievement.
- Participate actively in departmental and faculty seminars, sharing research outcomes and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Contribute to the administration and assessment of exams and other evaluations, ensuring fairness and academic integrity.
- Provide pastoral care to students, aligning with the university’s code of conduct and promoting a supportive learning environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or Environmental Engineering from a recognized institution is essential.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required, with a strong academic foundation.
- University teaching experience at the level of Assistant Lecturer for at least two years or as a Tutorial Assistant for a minimum of three years is necessary.
- Evidence of research capabilities, demonstrated by at least one scholarly publication or participation in a research project.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively and meet strict deadlines are crucial for success in this role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to engage effectively with students and colleagues.
