About the Role
The Communications Coordinator at Trees for the Future plays a crucial role in driving the visibility and impact of the organization’s initiatives in Uganda. This position is vital as it enhances the connection between the organization, farmers, and various stakeholders while ensuring that key messages resonate with target audiences. In the first few months, you will engage deeply with program teams and build upon existing communication strategies, tailoring them to the unique needs of Ugandan communities. By crafting compelling narratives and managing media relations, you will contribute to a broader mission of empowering farmers and promoting sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities
- You will coordinate with project teams to develop clear, evidence-based messages and materials that effectively communicate TREES’ activities and successes to diverse audiences.
- This role involves overseeing the production of various communication materials, including written content, photography, and videography that highlight program impacts and best practices.
- As a key liaison, you will manage media relations to enhance TREES’ visibility and ensure consistent brand representation across all platforms.
- You will coordinate advocacy initiatives aligned with organizational goals and donor priorities, ensuring that messaging is impactful and strategic.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of communication strategies will be part of your responsibilities, allowing for continuous improvement and adaptation.
- Additionally, you will lead public engagement initiatives, including campaigns and events, to raise awareness and foster community involvement in TREES’ mission.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field is required to ensure a strong foundation in the principles of effective communication.
- At least three years of experience in communications or public relations, preferably in the non-profit sector, is essential for understanding the unique challenges and opportunities in this field.
- Strong writing skills in both English and local languages will be necessary to create accessible and engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in managing media relations and public engagement initiatives will be crucial for successfully enhancing TREES’ visibility.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms is expected to effectively reach and engage with stakeholders and communities.
