About the Role

The Earth Day 2022 initiative, titled “Invest In Our Planet,” is a vital campaign organized by EcoWebMedia aimed at raising awareness about environmental issues and encouraging sustainable practices. This role is centered around mobilizing communities and stakeholders to participate actively in Earth Day events globally, which are expected to unite over a billion individuals across 193 countries. In your first few months, you will engage with local organizations, develop outreach strategies, and facilitate discussions on sustainable practices. Your efforts will contribute to a larger movement advocating for environmental accountability from businesses, governments, and individuals. This position is crucial as it seeks to inspire transformative actions aimed at combating climate change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate local Earth Day events that promote awareness and engagement around environmental issues, ensuring maximum community participation.
  • Develop educational materials and resources that highlight the importance of sustainable practices, such as reducing plastic use and sourcing local foods.
  • Engage with local government and businesses to foster partnerships that support sustainable initiatives and accountability for environmental actions.
  • Utilize social media platforms to amplify Earth Day messages, encouraging individuals to share their commitments to environmental sustainability.
  • Organize workshops and activities that demonstrate practical steps individuals can take to reduce their carbon footprint, such as sustainable fashion choices and energy conservation.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of Earth Day activities, preparing feedback reports to improve future campaigns and initiatives.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or a related field is preferred, demonstrating a foundational knowledge of environmental issues.
  • Proven experience in community engagement or event organization, ideally within an NGO or development context.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey messages and mobilize community support.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies to promote Earth Day initiatives.
  • Demonstrated passion for environmental sustainability and a proactive attitude toward making a difference in the community.
