About the Role

The Executive Director (ED) at St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor is a pivotal leadership position responsible for steering the hospital complex towards its mission of delivering quality healthcare to the community. This role entails both strategic oversight and operational management, ensuring that the hospital adheres to its values while meeting the healthcare needs of over 580,000 people in the Gulu District. In the initial months, the ED will focus on integrating various departments, implementing board-approved strategies, and fostering a collaborative culture among staff. The role not only involves administrative duties but also a commitment to ethical leadership that reflects the hospital’s Catholic identity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ethical and mission-aligned leadership across all departments, ensuring that the hospital’s decisions align with its Catholic identity and service values.
  • Implement the strategic objectives set by the Board of Directors, ensuring all units are aligned with the overall mission of the hospital.
  • Oversee the management of hospital resources effectively, maintaining quality patient care while ensuring sustainability and access to health services.
  • Act as the legal representative of Lacor Hospital, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and legal requirements in healthcare delivery.
  • Foster a collegial work environment that promotes teamwork and professional development among the management team and hospital staff.
  • Engage with community stakeholders and partners to enhance the hospital’s outreach and impact within the catchment area.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field is essential for this executive role.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare management or a related sector, demonstrating a strong record of operational effectiveness.
  • Proven ability to manage large teams and complex organizational structures, with a focus on collaborative leadership.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, financial management, and quality assurance practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government, community, and church officials.
