About the Role

The position of Local Coordinator/National Expert at Pepps Engineering is crucial for the successful implementation of a transformative digital project in Uganda. This role not only bridges the gap between the local teams in Uganda and the project teams based in Belgium but also ensures compliance with national digital standards and regulations, particularly those set by NITA-U. In the initial months, you will engage with various stakeholders to understand their needs, facilitate necessary approvals, and provide your IT expertise to adapt solutions to the Ugandan context. Your contributions will directly impact the project’s effectiveness and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will serve as the primary liaison for the project in Uganda, establishing and maintaining communication with institutional stakeholders, particularly NITA-U.
  • Your role will involve ensuring that all project activities align with Uganda’s regulatory framework and national standards concerning digital technologies and cybersecurity.
  • Facilitating administrative procedures and obtaining necessary approvals from NITA-U and other relevant authorities will be a significant part of your responsibilities.
  • As an expert in IT, you will provide valuable insights for the deployment and local adaptation of digital solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of the Ugandan market.
  • Your expertise will also contribute to analyzing technical constraints that may arise during the project, helping to devise effective strategies for overcoming them.
  • Throughout the duration of the project, you will act as a local point of contact and advisor, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration between local and remote teams.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a higher education degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in the IT/digital sector, particularly in roles involving project management or stakeholder engagement, is essential.
  • Demonstrable experience working with NITA-U on relevant projects will be a significant advantage in your application.
  • A strong understanding of the Ugandan digital and regulatory landscape is necessary to navigate compliance effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills are required, particularly in English, with proficiency in French or Swahili considered beneficial.
