The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is seeking a qualified Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients attending the Immune Suppression Syndrome Clinic (IDC). The successful candidate will support clinical assessment, patient management, treatment adherence, and health education for people living with HIV/AIDS while ensuring care is provided according to approved clinical guidelines and standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Provide quality nursing care to IDC patients, including clinical assessment, patient triage, monitoring, and necessary investigations in accordance with standard treatment guidelines.
Support the management of critically ill patients presenting to the Urgent Care unit and facilitate appropriate referrals for complex medical cases.
Conduct health education sessions and facility sensitization activities to improve awareness and understanding among patients and their caregivers.
Participate in identifying, implementing, monitoring, and documenting continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Support medical officers during clinical procedures and provide interpretation or translation services when required.
Conduct quality assurance and quality control checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of patient records and source documentation.
Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to other nursing staff to promote quality clinical practice.
Participate in clinical research activities and studies as assigned by the organization.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
Must have active registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council and hold a valid practicing license.
Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience working in a clinical healthcare setting.
Experience in HIV/AIDS care, infectious diseases, or chronic disease management is an added advantage.
