- Job Overview
This role focuses on managing all company payments and ensuring money is disbursed correctly, on time, and with full accuracy. You will oversee how supplier invoices are processed, approved, and paid while maintaining strong financial control.
In real work terms, you will supervise payment cycles, check invoices, confirm approvals, and ensure all transactions are correctly recorded in the financial system. You will also manage cash flow to make sure the company can meet all its financial obligations without delays.
You will lead a finance team that handles payables and accounts processing. Your work ensures suppliers are paid correctly, financial records remain accurate, and the organization maintains trust with partners and vendors.
- Key Responsibilities
You will manage the full payment process. This includes reviewing payment requests, verifying supporting documents, and ensuring approvals are completed before money is released.
You will ensure all payments are accurately recorded in the ERP system. You will check entries for correctness and timeliness to maintain reliable financial records.
You will monitor cash flow related to payments. You will ensure funds are available and properly planned to avoid disruptions in operations.
You will oversee the accounts payable process. You will review invoices, confirm supplier details, and ensure proper matching with purchase orders and delivery documents.
You will resolve payment disputes. You will handle issues with suppliers regarding missing payments, incorrect invoices, or delays.
You will enforce financial controls. You will design and apply checks that prevent fraud, errors, and misuse of company funds.
You will ensure compliance. You will make sure all payments follow tax regulations, financial laws, and internal company policies.
You will prepare payment reports. These reports will support management decisions and audits.
You will coordinate with internal and external auditors. You will provide documents and explanations during financial reviews.
You will supervise a team of accountants and assistants. You will assign tasks, review performance, and provide technical guidance.
You will support staff development. You will identify training needs and improve team skills in financial processing and reporting.

- Requirements and Qualifications
You need a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. This builds your foundation in financial management and reporting.
You must hold or be working toward a professional qualification such as ICPAU or ACCA. This shows strong accounting competence.
You need at least 5 years of experience in accounts payable, payment processing, or financial accounting.
Experience in the energy or utility sector is preferred. It helps you understand large scale payment systems and operational finance.
You must have experience managing teams. You should be able to guide staff, review work, and improve performance.
You need strong knowledge of financial reporting standards such as IPSAS.
You must be highly skilled in MS Excel and financial systems. Experience with ERP systems is required.
You need strong attention to detail, good organization skills, and ability to manage deadlines under pressure.
You should have strong communication skills to work with suppliers, auditors, and internal departments.

UGX 5,000,000 to UGX 10,000,000 per month
Salary depends on experience, professional certification, and exposure to utility or large scale finance operations. Senior roles may include additional benefits and allowances.
