About the Role

The Technical Sales Engineer position at BrighterMonday Uganda is a pivotal role focused on driving sales and business development within Uganda’s industrial sectors, including manufacturing, construction, mining, and oil & gas. This role is essential for promoting workplace safety through expert guidance on personal protective equipment (PPE) selection and compliance with local regulations. In your first few months, you will immerse yourself in understanding the company’s product portfolio and engage with clients to identify their needs and propose tailored solutions. You will actively participate in lead generation activities and work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that sales targets are not only met but exceeded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a territory-specific sales strategy aimed at penetrating Uganda’s industrial sectors, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive cold outreach, attending industry events, and leveraging personal and professional networks.
  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and technical consultations with EHS Managers, Procurement Officers, and HSE teams to tailor solutions to their specific requirements.
  • Provide expert advice on the correct selection of PPE, linking it to relevant compliance obligations under Uganda’s Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA 2006).
  • Prepare and present detailed technical proposals, ensuring all commercial documentation, such as Bills of Quantities (BQs) and competitive tenders, is accurate and compelling.
  • Negotiate and finalize sales contracts, focusing on achieving favorable terms while maintaining the company’s profit margins.
  • Consistently monitor and evaluate sales performance, working diligently to achieve and surpass monthly, quarterly, and annual sales revenue targets.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field is essential for this role.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in sales, particularly within the industrial or safety equipment sectors, showcasing a proven track record of meeting sales targets.
  • Strong understanding of personal protective equipment and the ability to articulate its benefits and applications effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems to manage sales activities and customer relationships efficiently.
