About the Role
The Technology Assistant position at KATOTO is an exciting opportunity for recent graduates eager to dive into the world of IT support within a dynamic animation studio. KATOTO, known for its creative storytelling and cultural representation through animation, is seeking a tech-savvy individual who will play a crucial role in maintaining the studio’s technological infrastructure. In the first few months, you will work closely with experienced IT professionals and gain hands-on experience that will enhance your technical skill set. This role is vital not only for ensuring smooth daily operations but also for supporting the creative processes that bring captivating African stories to life.
Key Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for configuring and maintaining high-performance workstations and drawing tablets that are essential for our animators and artists.
- Your role will include providing first-line troubleshooting for various hardware and software issues, ensuring that all systems run efficiently and effectively.
- You will assist in monitoring network performance, conducting regular server backups, and performing routine hardware maintenance to keep our infrastructure robust.
- Tracking IT assets and maintaining technical documentation will be your responsibility, ensuring that all equipment is accounted for and properly managed.
- You will collaborate with team members in identifying areas for improvement in IT processes and support, contributing your fresh perspective to enhance overall efficiency.
- Regularly updating and maintaining the studio’s software applications will be part of your duties, ensuring that all tools are up-to-date and meet the needs of the creative team.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A recently completed degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, or a related field is essential for this role.
- Demonstrated passion for troubleshooting and understanding system mechanics will set you apart as a candidate.
- You should possess a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies as they emerge in the studio environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial for effectively collaborating with team members and assisting non-technical staff.
- Prior experience with IT support or internships in a technical role will be advantageous but not mandatory.
