The Data Officer (Locum) will work closely with health facilities and district teams to promote the accurate, complete, and timely collection, reporting, and utilization of tuberculosis (TB) and urban health data. The role supports compliance with national Health Management Information System (HMIS) standards and reporting requirements.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Provide mentorship to health facility staff on the correct use of national HMIS tools and electronic data management systems.
Monitor and maintain the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data recorded in HMIS tools and digital platforms.
Assist health facilities in compiling and submitting routine HMIS reports within the required deadlines.
Support health facilities with data entry and reporting through the District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2).
Ensure project trackers and reporting tools are updated accurately and on time.
Support the maintenance and updating of the electronic Case-Based Surveillance System (eCBSS) for TB.
Participate in data verification, cleaning, analysis, interpretation, and sharing of findings.
Provide ongoing data management support to health facilities in Kampala, Mukono, and Wakiso districts.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Information Technology, Quantitative Economics, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
Proficiency in data analysis, visualization, and reporting using the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Demonstrated experience managing HMIS data at both health facility and district levels.
Practical knowledge of DHIS2, eCBSS, eAfya, eRegistry, and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
Previous experience supporting TB and TB/HIV data management activities is an added advantage.
