Job Overview
The MNCH Coordinator will provide strategic and technical leadership in the planning,
implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of maternal, newborn, and
child health programs. The role is responsible for ensuring effective delivery of
high-quality, evidence-based MNCH interventions that improve health outcomes and
strengthen health systems.
The MNCH Coordinator will work closely with government structures, health facilities,
communities, development partners, and technical teams to strengthen access to
quality maternal and newborn services, improve clinical practices, support quality
improvement initiatives, and ensure sustainable integration of MNCH interventions within
existing health systems.
The position requires strong technical expertise in MNCH programming, quality
improvement, capacity building, data use, stakeholder engagement, and program
management.

Founded in 2016, Bulamu Healthcare International provides life-saving health
interventions to underserved communities. We partner with the Central and Local
Government to leverage existing public health systems and facilities to transform
access to quality, dignified, and compassionate healthcare for people most in need,
reaching over 21.6 million people since inception. Our strategic focus lies in three
programmatic areas: Maternal and Newborn Health (MNCH), Surgery, and Primary
Care.
Under the MNCH Program, we train and equip healthcare workers, supply essential
maternity and neonatal surgical materials, strengthen data use for quality
improvement, and support emergency transportation in rural areas. Our Surgery
Program looks to reduce the country’s surgical backlog by providing free life-changing
procedures to over 3,500 patients annually. Under the Primary Care program, we are
enhancing the foundation of healthcare delivery by equipping facilities with essential
tools, strengthening digital reporting systems, and promoting data-driven
decision-making. We are ensuring that quality healthcare is not only accessible but
consistently delivered.

Key Responsibilities
1. MNCH Program Leadership and Coordination
● Provide overall technical leadership and coordination for MNCH projects and
interventions.
● Lead development, implementation, review, and adaptation of MNCH
workplans, strategies, and implementation frameworks.
● Ensure alignment of MNCH interventions with national health priorities, Ministry of
Health guidelines, and global evidence-based practices.
● Coordinate implementation across supported districts, health facilities, and
community platforms.
● Promote integrated approaches linking maternal health, newborn care, child
health, nutrition, and health system strengthening.
2. Technical Support and Quality Improvement
● Provide technical guidance to health facilities to improve quality of maternal,
newborn, and child health services.
● Support implementation of quality improvement approaches including:
● Maternal and newborn care improvement collaboratives, Clinical mentorship,
Standards-based quality improvement, Data-driven decision making
● Identify service delivery gaps and support development of corrective action
plans.
● Strengthen implementation of evidence-based interventions including:
● Helping Babies Survive, Helping Mothers Survive Suites, and Child health
interventions
3. Capacity Building and Mentorship
● Lead planning and delivery of MNCH training, mentorship, and supportive
supervision activities.
● Coordinate training programs for healthcare workers including:
● Helping Mothers Survive, Helping Babies Survive, Infection prevention and control
● Develop mentorship approaches that strengthen provider competence and
confidence.
● Support continuous professional development initiatives for health workers.
4. Health Systems Strengthening and Partnership Engagement
● Collaborate with the Ministry of Health, District Health Teams, Regional Referral
Hospitals, and implementing partners.
● Strengthen referral systems and linkages between community, primary
healthcare facilities, and referral hospitals.
● Support establishment and strengthening of MNCH systems including newborn
care units, data systems, and clinical governance structures.
● Represent the organization in technical meetings, coordination forums, and
stakeholder engagements.
5. Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Reporting
● Lead MNCH performance monitoring and support use of data for
decision-making.
● Track key MNCH indicators including:
● Maternal mortality indicators, Neonatal mortality indicators, Birth outcomes,
Service utilization, Quality of care indicators
● Support routine data review, analysis, and interpretation.
● Prepare high-quality donor, management, and technical reports.
● Document lessons learned, innovations, best practices, and success stories.
● Support knowledge sharing and dissemination.
6. Program Planning and Resource Management
● Contribute to proposal development, budgeting, and resource mobilization for
MNCH programs.
● Ensure efficient utilization of project resources.
● Support procurement planning for MNCH commodities, equipment, and
supplies.
● Contribute to development of annual operational plans and budgets.
Candidate Profile
Education
● Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, Health
Sciences, or related field.
● Master’s degree in Public Health, Global Health, Maternal and Child Health, or
related discipline is an added advantage.
Experience
● Minimum of 5 years’ experience in MNCH programming, preferably in public
health programs, NGO, or health system strengthening environments.
● Demonstrated experience managing MNCH projects and coordinating
multi-stakeholder programs.
● Experience supporting health facilities through mentorship, training, and quality
improvement.
● Experience working with the Ministry of Health and district health systems.
● Experience in donor-funded projects and reporting.
