About the Role

The Full Time Teacher of French at Aga Khan Education Services in Kampala plays a critical role in shaping the academic and personal growth of students. This position is essential in creating a vibrant and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported. In the initial months, you will focus on establishing strong classroom management strategies while developing engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum. As a leader in the classroom, you will collaborate closely with fellow educators and school administration to foster a culture of respect, responsibility, and cooperation among students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive classroom atmosphere by adopting inclusive practices that respect the diverse capabilities and backgrounds of all students.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment that reflects the work and achievements of students, promptly addressing any issues of damage or misuse.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that promote critical thinking, creativity, and ethical responsibility among students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the school and the regional Professional Learning Community to enhance teaching methodologies and align with 21st-century educational standards.
  • Assess and monitor student performance through regular homework assignments, examinations, and progress reports to ensure academic targets are met.
  • Engage with parents through regular communication and conferences to discuss student performance and establish a supportive home-school relationship.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, French, Linguistics, or a related field is required for this teaching position.
  • Proven experience in teaching French at the primary or secondary level, demonstrating effective classroom management and instructional strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and French, with the ability to engage and inspire students in their learning journey.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage lesson planning, assessment, and administrative responsibilities efficiently.
  • A commitment to professional development and collaboration with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and student outcomes.
