About the Role

The Senior Financial Accountant position at Unifi Uganda represents an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding finance and technology company that is reshaping personal lending in East Africa. This role is critical for maintaining the financial integrity of the organization, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making. In the initial months, you will immerse yourself in Unifi’s financial processes, gaining a deep understanding of the company’s operations while establishing strong relationships with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting by meticulously controlling and capturing all financial transactions in accordance with IFRS standards, which includes reconciling balance sheet and control accounts.
  • Generate and present detailed periodic financial reports—daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual—to stakeholders, including variance analysis against budgets and performance from previous periods.
  • Facilitate external, internal, and regulatory audits by preparing the necessary documentation and ensuring that all financial practices comply with the established standards.
  • Oversee the end-to-end Accounts Payable process, ensuring the timely capture, scanning of invoices, and monthly reconciliation of supplier accounts, while also maintaining the procurement approval framework.
  • Manage statutory compliance by ensuring the accurate and timely filing and payment of monthly taxes, alongside corporate secretarial filings with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).
  • Ensure compliance with all mandated regulatory reporting requirements, actively contributing to the integrity of financial operations across the organization.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial reports to management as required, aiding in strategic planning and operational improvements.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required, with a professional certification such as CPA or ACCA being highly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably within a fast-paced or technology-driven environment.
  • Proven expertise in financial reporting and compliance, with a strong understanding of IFRS standards and practices.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and develop actionable insights.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an aptitude for leading discussions and influencing decisions across various departments.
