About the Role
The Uganda Finance Associate position at One Acre Fund plays a critical role in enhancing the financial stability and operational efficiency of the Uganda program. This role is essential as it supports financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting that directly inform decision-making processes. In your first few months, you will engage in hands-on financial oversight, working closely with various teams to ensure compliance and effective management of Uganda-focused grants. As part of a dynamic team, you will contribute to the overall mission of improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers through informed financial practices.
Key Responsibilities
- You will conduct detailed financial analyses to assess budgetary needs and inform strategic decisions within the Uganda program.
- Your role will involve preparing comprehensive financial reports that highlight program performance, facilitating transparency and accountability.
- You will collaborate with the Grants Finance team to oversee the financial aspects of specific grants, ensuring all expenditures align with budgetary guidelines.
- Your responsibilities will include monitoring compliance with financial regulations and organizational policies to mitigate risks.
- You will participate in the development and refinement of budgeting processes, improving the accuracy and efficiency of financial planning.
- You will support training initiatives for team members to strengthen their financial literacy and enhance overall program capacity.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is essential for this role.
- Experience in financial analysis or budgeting, preferably in a non-profit or development context, is highly valued.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, with a strong command of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills will be crucial to navigate complex financial scenarios.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to convey financial concepts to non-financial team members.
