About the Role

The Project Director position at Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is a pivotal leadership role focused on enhancing the lives of vulnerable communities in Uganda. As part of a dedicated team, the Project Director will oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of critical projects aimed at alleviating poverty and promoting sustainable development. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking and practical execution, ensuring that projects align with CRS’s mission and the needs of the community. In the initial months, you will engage with stakeholders, familiarize yourself with ongoing initiatives, and establish a clear vision for project success, all while navigating the complexities of humanitarian work.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will spearhead the overall project planning and execution, ensuring that objectives are met within the prescribed timelines and budgets.
  • Your role will involve coordinating with various teams and stakeholders, including local partners and community groups, to foster collaborative relationships that enhance project effectiveness.
  • Regular monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes will be your responsibility, allowing you to assess progress and implement necessary adjustments to achieve desired results.
  • As a Project Director, you will lead the preparation of detailed reports and documentation to communicate project progress to CRS management and external stakeholders.
  • Developing and managing project budgets will be critical, requiring you to ensure that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Your leadership will be essential in building the capacity of project staff and local partners, providing guidance and mentorship to enhance their skills and effectiveness in project delivery.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in project management within a humanitarian or development context is essential for this role.
  • Candidates should possess a relevant degree in social sciences, international development, or a related field to ensure a solid foundation for project leadership.
  • Strong familiarity with monitoring and evaluation methodologies is expected, enabling you to implement effective assessment strategies throughout the project.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are critical, as you will be engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders and communities.
  • Proficiency in financial management and budgeting processes will be necessary to oversee project resources effectively.
